Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this earth... I may have had a tough break, but I have an awful lot to live for. - Lou Gehrig July 4th, 1939
Welcome
to the Jim Himelic Foundation (JHF) website. The Jim Himelic Foundation is a grassroots organization established by Jim’s family and friends after he courageously lost his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2000.
More commonly referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” this degenerative disease has no known cure, and only limited treatment is available for current ALS patients.
The goal of the Jim Himelic Foundation is to help contribute to the many ongoing fundraising and research efforts that are determined to “Eradicate ALS.” Through our annual golf tournament, dinner, and silent and live auctions, JHF seeks to raise ONE MILLION DOLLARS for ALS research at the University of Arizona. To date, the one-day event has raised $832,000. However, for the Jim Himelic Foundation to be successful in achieving its goal, much more support is still needed. To learn more about our foundation, please watch our promotional video.
The 13th annual Jim Himelic Memorial Golf Classic will take place on Friday, May 31st and Saturday June 1st at The Westin La Paloma located in Tucson, Arizona. Spaces are limited, so please send in your forms early to guarantee yourself a spot! Online registration is now available on our 2013 Tournament Page.
